Today is the first day I’m setting foot on the road to “Glee”. Now, one of the very first things I need to do is physically prepare myself for this new adventure. I actually already started last night with this, but today is the official first day. I only have about two weeks to make some changes- not a lot of time.
So, here’s what I’m thinking: it’s extremely important for a dancer to be warmed up before dancing, so this is sort-of my warm up. I am undergoing some physical training. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not in the position to hire anybody to help me with this- it’s all on my own. I’ve had some experience doing this before, so I’m planning on doing the same sort of routine that I did then.
*Morning: As soon as I wake up: At least 15 minutes of cardio (can’t run right now, cause I’m nursing an injury with my lower back) so elliptical will do.
*Afternoon or evening: One half-hour of aerobic activity ( a little Jane Fonda, elliptical or one of my various “workout tapes” ) followed by at least another half-hour of weight training, ab work. During that time, I have some specific back exercises I’ll do to help strengthen my “Spondy” issue.
*Evening: before bed: stretches. I have a great, out-dated DVD called “Callanetics”. It’s a totally 80′s version of pilates, yoga and ballet- type moves that really strengthens the body and conditions it while releasing tension. It’s great, and I did it last night before bed- I think I slept better because of it.
DIET: YUCK!!! But, totally necessary!! Gotta take off some of those holiday pounds I magically gained. That means:
AM- Fruit/ maybe some oatmeal or cereal too
LUNCH- Veggies, light carb (such as whole wheat pita or crackers)
DINNER- Veggies, protein of some sort
SNACKS- I’ll have to forego most for now, and wean myself off of sugar (UGH!!!) If I’m desperate, the options would be: fruit, crackers, hummus and veggies or a granola bar may suffice. So, this is my diet and exercise plan starting TODAY!!!! Wa hoo!!
Now, I started doing some homework on the show and found out a couple of interesting things. They’re holding an open call for online submissions in FEB. but they haven’t announced any details yet. So, right now I’m starting by looking at my connections. Hmmm…. let’s see- I’m gonna go with the 6 degrees of separation idea:
a) Matt Morrison= worked on broadway with a close friend of mine I used to dance with in MI, Josh= ME! That’s a close one!
b) Jayma Mays= I know her financial manager= ME! Interesting one…
Hmmm…. I think that’s all I know right now. Let’s see how I can try to make some connections with any of these people. Not sure if they can help or not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
